Good thing I was able to take advantage of their "Free Entrance" to the museum in celebration of the Museums and Galleries Month as well as policy on taking pictures using DSLR was lifted so I made sure to make one day free so I could make the most out of it.
Since the National Museum has two buildings (Museum of the Filipino People and National Arts Gallery), I had to make the most out of my time (and my CF Card's space) and head of to one building after the other.
Anyways, I'll let you enjoy some of the photos I took there (straight from the camera, unedited as I have to do research if its ok to put watermarks on them). also, credit goes to The National Museum and its artists though I am the one who photographed them. I'll classify it into two groups.
A. Museum of the Filipino People
B. National Arts Gallery
Believe me, every
Oh, I forgot to let you know that this is just a teaser XD. A detailed posts is still in the works.
oh my! i've been wanting to visit this place for quite some time now... too bad i missed their October treat! thanks for posting anyway
ReplyDeleteI have visited The National Museum when I was still in elementary, so the details are now vague. I'll be sure to visit again soon with my children, though. :)
ReplyDeleteI should visit the National Museum to appreciate the Filipinos culture and history in the form of historical arts and relics.
ReplyDeleteI was just there last week! Good that you've posted your photos.. I on the other hand, can't seem to pick out the best ones to feature.. as each masterpiece is worthy of being shown. I'm really glad the National Museum hosted such an event. It's also been years for me since I last visited the historical haven. :)
ReplyDeleteShame I missed the free entrance thing. But yeah, the National Museum is a must visit for anyone, Filipino or tourist, to visit at least once. Great place to learn how rich of a history and culture we have.
ReplyDeleteNice teaser! the paintings above are so historical that I only saw them in social studies books during high school. thanks for the reminder. The Nat'l Museum is a must visit for Filipinos.
ReplyDeleteHindi pa rin ako nakapunta riyan. hope I can visit the place. BTW bro, edit mo post title mo. "Mational"
ReplyDeleteThanks for the correction sir. Have it updated. ^_^
DeleteMaybe if we have time, when we go have our grand Philippine vacation.. we can visit the place too! So kids would know about our great nation!
ReplyDeletePlanning to bring my daughter here by summer next year. Too bad we moved here in the province na, wasn't able to avail the month-long free accommodation last month.. Lucky are the Manilenyos! :D
ReplyDeletePhotos are great! Thank you for sharing them!
I should bring my family here. We've been living in Manila for the most part of our lives and yet forget about interesting places like this.
ReplyDeleteWe also have like that here in Davao. We have two museums here, located at Pichon St. and near Insular Hotel. And I love visiting that place, great learning from the past about Arts and Paintings.
ReplyDeleteI'm just like you I never go to museums! Except last time when we visited Ilocos Norte and Sur! There are many relics. This is a good trip for families! :D

I have never been to the National Museum for 20 years na yata.I hope to visit there again with my kids.
ReplyDeleteI wish I can visit, along with the family, National Museum soon. It's been years since the last time I visited it.
ReplyDeleteCant remember the last time I visited this place. I think, it was when I was still in elementary, not sure though. Haha! Good thing, you were able to take photos inside.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been in the NM and I'm planning to visit their this holiday. Great that I might enjoy the trip since you've posted a good stuff here. I've been in Manila for about 2 and a Half years and I haven't been there.
ReplyDeleteinteresting art. i recently went to the college art gallery, but most of the artwork were video installation. so, i will probably just write about it. it might not work well if i record it on video.
ReplyDeleteAnd I've been stuck in Manila all my life and I haven't been there. Truth be told, I haven't been to a lot of places here in Metro Manila (more so in the whole Ph). But reading blogs like yours and others inspires me to see more of the Philippines and stop being a foreigner in my own country.
ReplyDeleteI love going to museum. I'm interested to know the historical roots of every exhibits placed therein. I also love to explore the past by tracing them through artifacts and relics. Going to museum is a wholesome educational exploration.
