Double Pay for Today

I should be getting my pay today double as DOLE (Department of Labor and Employment) issues pay rules for the Nov 7 Holiday (Eid-Al Adha).

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) released Friday evening the pay rules for Nov. 7, on which falls the Eid'l Adha or Feast of Sacrifice of believers of Islam, and reminded employers to observe them.

MalacaƱang declared Nov. 7 a regular holiday under Proclamation No. 276.

For Nov. 7, the rules to be observed are as follows:

If Nov. 7 is worked and it is the employee’s regular workday, the employee is entitled to 200 percent of his or her basic wage on the first eight hours. For work in excess of the eight hours, an additional 30 percent of his or her hourly rate on the said day will apply.

If Nov. 7 is unworked, the employee is entitled to 100 percent of the regular daily rate, provided he or she was present, or was on leave with pay, on the workday immediately preceding the holiday.

If Nov. 7 is the employee’s rest day and the day is worked, he or she is entitled to 260 percent of his or her daily rate on the first eight hours, plus 30 percent for work in excess of eight hours on the said day.

If unworked and it is the employee’s rest day, the employee is entitled only to 100 percent of his or her regular rate, provided he or she was present, or was on leave with pay, on the workday immediately preceding the holiday. In case the day immediately preceding the holiday is a non-work day in the establishment, or is the scheduled rest day of the employee, the employee shall not be deemed on leave of absence on that day, in which case he or she shall be entitled to the regular holiday pay.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda D. Baldoz urged private-sector employers to observe the correct pay rules and core labor standards during holidays.

I'd be very unhappy if I won't get my double pay today XD.
