World Suicide Prevention Day

Taken from Google

Don't you know that for every 100,000 Filipinos, 93 of them committed suicide. Imagine for a country like ours with a population of approximately 91,983,000, there would be 85,544 suicide cases all in all (which for me I consider horrendous). And that number is quite big given that the rate for every 100,000 Filipinos is around 0.01%

World Suicide Prevention Day is observed every 10th of September to promote worldwide action on suicide prevention. Various activities and events are held during this occasion to raise awareness  to everyone that suicide is a major preventable cause of premature death.

Here in the Philippines, it is held a day in advance (today, September 9) as it is supported by the Quezon City Government spearheaded by Mayor Herbert Bautista and Vice-Mayor Joy Belmonte with the DOH, DepEd and DSWD. Various schools in Quezon City have already participated for this year's event. By nightfall, a solemn candlelight memorial walk will be held to remember friends and loved ones lost to suicide as well as for those who attempted to survive.

Though I had my share of suicidal tendencies back in 2004, I know life is too good to end it and no person can take it away from you. Not even you can take your own life away from you as it is God's gift to each and one of us here on earth.
