Today mark's the 46th International Literacy Day. I got to see this after reading the Manila Bulletin early this morning. This event has been proclaimed by UNESCO which aims to to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. This year, it will focus on the link between literacy and peace as we know that there are wars and chaos going-on especially in the middle east.
For me, it is important that each and one of us know how to read and write as these are one of the basics in life. Being literate reduces chance of being fooled and swindled by those who want to take advantage of he situation. For me, it is a basic right that each and every one should be literate and understands things.
