A Weekend at Dutdutan 2011

Their own version of the awards

My weekends for August runs every Fridays and Saturday and that was a good time for me to go to events on a Fri-Sat basis. Good thing Dutdutan was held this month of August. I bought my 2-day ticket plus an XXL shirt for myself after being unable to buy last years shirt.

Do you think this one has flash? =P

On the first day, I got there early and I got so overwhelmed that the event venue doubled. No, it tripled or probably quadrupled in size that more than 50 tattoo exhibitors take part. I got to take some more decent shots that I did last year and I was able to take more pictures as well. I saw some of my photography friends taking pictures as well. I didn't stay that long as I need to do some errands for my wife XD.

Come second day, I got there much earlier but when I got there, more than a thousand enthusiasts were already inside. I missed one of the tattoo competitions for being late. Plus the front stage was already jam-packed with photographers that I decided to shoot from a distance. Then some of my friends came to join me in taking pictures of people with tattoos. As the night progresses, we still had to wait for the bikini contest only to leave the venue at almost midnight (they said that Bikini Open didn't start at 1:00am).

Anyway, I got a lot of pictures as I got to attend a 2-day event for the first time. Though I was hoping the Bikini Show should have started earlier. Anyway, here are some more pictures for you to enjoy. Till next year. XD.

See you in Dutdutan 2012. XD

  10. I have a friend who made a canvass also of his back - it's Lord Krishna in a beautiful garden, the tatoo artist happened to be with a Krishna group and so they said it was a spiritual experience for them both - tatooing while in yoga/meditation, hmmm....

  12. Nice art! I've got a couple of inks myself, but I'm still hesitant to dive in and commit a large piece of skin as art real estate. I'll look forward to the next Dutdutan event!

  15. So this is the Dutdutan... I see posts from my friends in FB about this but didn't know what it is. Disadvantage of being far from my homeland and busy with other things. :)

  16. Tattoo is really an expression of art, one of friend quoted "it may seem easy to have one, but it takes a lot of time and effort by an artist to finish its master piece."

  20. I have great respect in art in general. Like others, it takes passion and creativity to come up with such great pieces.

My mom has a lot of tattoos in her body and one of them has our names in order :)

  21. Astig! Participants are cool and seemed so elated about the outcome of tattoos made on their body. It takes patience and artistic viewpoints to be able to come up with a decent one.

  22. DUTDUTAN... now I know what the term means. It sounds very intriguing at first glance because I have no idea about this kind of event until I continue reading this post. I don't have any tattoo but my hubby has.
