Swabeng Thoughts: Getting a Coffee Card (Starbucks Reward Card)

Taken from Google

I've been seeing advertisements about this card on facebook for a couple of days now. While some raised their eyebrows on how expensive it is, I gave it some thought.

Whenever I have extra money and want to spend some time either alone or with my family for coffee or other hot drinks, we usually go to Starbucks to spend some time there. The fewer the people, the better for us.

If you ask me, I don't see anything wrong here. Why? First, You actually don't pay anything for the card. You could initially purchase it for 300 pesos (with 300 pesos consumable). Upon registering your card online, you get a free grande drink of your choice (must be claimed within 60 days upon registration). Then you can load it again at least 100 pesos (minimum) and you can load it up to 10,000 pesos (maximum). Then for every drink you buy, you earn a star. Collect 12 stars and you can claim your free drink of your choice (grande). Did I forget that you'll be getting a free slice of

They say they would be releasing different designs in the coming days. I look forward to it given the same conditions.

Anyway, if you have more questions, you could visit their website here, or look for me at a nearest Starbucks =P

Swabeng Review: Starbucks' 2013 Planner

You'd wonder why in the world I'm only writing a review about a planner where it suppose to be written between December of last year and last month. The answer, I'm TOO BUSY with a lot of things that's why =P.

Anyway, I had this Starbucks Planner for 2013 as early as December of last year and I kinda liked some of its looks. First, I made sure to choose a dark colored (black) to match my personality as well as to make it look manly :D.

Another new feature of the planner is the magnetic bookmark that looks like your favorite hot drink.

If you look at the design, there are patterns of starts that are engraved both at the front and back and when you open the planner,  the pattern of stars are on the inside cover as well.

A new addition to this planner is that they used magnetic locks to keep it closed. Something, I find it nice.

Well, you can also find the usual coupons at the back for you to enjoy the entire year. ^_^

What I like about this planner is that in a way you help their support their selected charity that helps remote barangays receive early childhood care and education and at the same time, you enjoy coffee.

Anyway, pictures to follow soon for my Starbucks' 7th Planner. XD

Going for planner #7

As of late, some haters would probably post their thoughts and sentiments on why waste money on coffee just to get a planner. Who cares about these haters seriously? XD

If you ask me, there are only two things. Either they have a planner better than the ones launched at coffee shops (only a few would belong here). Or they don't have money to buy coffee to collect stickers for a planner (most would fall under here XD).

Before you place your harshest comments, let me tel you this. I only visit these coffee shops if and only if I need a place to dump (XD) or if someone treats me coffee. Well another is that I visit them during sticker collecting season to get their planner.

[Photo to be inserted here XD]

At the end of the day, I don't care what people say about these kinds of planners. I only have a few more stickers to go before I could get my 7th Starbucks Planner (out of 10 since its launch in 2004). I hope I could write something about it soon. XD

A look into the Starbuck’s 2012 Planner (a look into the 1st of 5 planner)

This is the first (of 5 planners) 2012 that I had recently acquired for next year. I’ve been seeing some reviews about it from popular bloggers and most of the reviews that I saw were nothing but praises about them. For me, it’s a bit of a mix of good and disappointing things I saw after feeling its pages. Even when I was starting collecting 17 stickers, I had mixed reactions about the planner (to be told further).

I got this planner the night after I attended the Ultimate Taste Test 7.0. Having it was really unplanned as I had already planned it to get this on the 30th on November. But somehow, my foot dragged me to Starbucks at 32nd Ave just a few steps from Mercato Centrale.

I choose the Cherry cover since its between the lightest shade (Poplar) and the darkest shade (Oak ). They only differ in color and wood finishing for their cover. These planners are assured to be earth-friendly through these three x-factors

a. Ethical Sourcing: This ensures proper forest management
b. Environmental Stewardship: All of the inner pages are made from 70% recycled material, which means more trees were spared from being cut.
c. Community Involvement: For each planner claimed, part of the proceeds go to SparkHope, Starbucks Philippines' flagship program for early childhood care and development in partnership with Unicef.

One thing I don’t like about this planner is that it’s compact. Compact that I could only write a few words in it as it’s small. Compared with the 2011 planner, this planner has lesser space which looked like more of an organizer to me which I had a couple of years back.

Though the one thing I like about it is the pouch included with the planner. Aside from it fits my planner; it can also fit at least two mobile phones and some paper documents as well.It also has a bookmark though I'd still prefer the string-typed ones attached to the planner

Over-all, this small planner would go a long long way especially to people on the go and those who prefer light planners. As for me, I’d take this as my 6th Starbuck’s planner and I’m looking forward to the 2013 Planner next year XD.

My Starbucks 2010 Planner

This is another very late post since I got too pre-occupied with a lot of things. ^_^

I remembered the first time I got my Starbucks 2007 planner last December of 2006 and I swear that I will be collecting these planners so I could write down important dates and events that happened with the year. Though I was really disappointed with my 2009 Planner, I am hoping that this planner for 2010 would be better than the one I got last year.

We were able to get a hold of it last December 27, 2009 at SM Manila while me and my wife were killing some time. The planner was a bit better than the previous one. My concern is that the planner is almost the same as last years which it might break as well with time. I wish they bring back the organizer (ring) type of planner next year. Anyway, here are some pictures I took.

Overall, this planner passed my standards in terms of durability and presentation. ^_^
