Swabeng Food Trip: Me and my family at Naci

When you go to a restaurant, do you make sure that your appetite are satisfied when you left their door? Some may say yes, while others say no. I had my share of unsatisfied results not because of poor service nor poor environment but rather because of the food. Though it seldom happen whenever I (or we) eat out, I never set foot on that restaurant again after that.

When I've heard of Naci Comfort Food and Dessert Bar from Ensogo, it got me curious on how their food fare against my taste buds. The more it got me curious was after seeing several posts from bloggers on its recent opening. The food looks good on pictures from their blogs that I'm not sure how my shots would fare against them.

Anyway, we got there this afternoon at past 1:30pm with my wife and my daughter after making reservations last night. I informed my wife that they don't have any high-chairs for toddlers so we had to take turns in taking care of her. I used my 2 vouchers (worth 1000 pesos) from Ensogo and had a mental note on what to order.

While waiting for our food, we got their usual bottomless iced tea. While I got the Red Vanilla Iced Tea (90 pesos, bottomless), I told my wife to get the Lemon Iced Tea (90 pesos, bottomless). Her iced tea was just sweet enough while mine has this refreshing taste I finished my glass even if food wasn't served yet.

Red Vanilla Iced Tea? XD

Lemon Iced Tea? XD

Which is which? XD

For starters, I skipped the salad and take the soup instead. We tried their famous Tita Em's Chowder (175 pesos) served on a small bread bowl. It tastes just okay.

Next was the Beef Caldereta Lasagna (310 pesos). Its rich, creamy and best eaten while its hot. I like the fusion of the two dishes most people (including myself) would love to eat.

Beef Caldereta Lasagna. So Rich, So Creamy!

My wife had a Baked Pesto Salmon (410 pesos). My wife loved it that's why I only got a bite so she could really enjoy her meal. The presentation was simple yet it would make you crave for more.

Baked Salmon Pesto (I only got a bite of it)

For me, I had Nate's Steak and Eggs (385 pesos). Its a two-piece patty with egg on top served on a bed of fried rice sauced with gravy. I liked how my plate was flooded with gravy. Thank God their gravy doesn't taste like ones in fast food dining. The burger steak was good that was complemented with the sunny side-up egg.

This is not for the weak of heart.

Then to cap it off, we had the Chocolate Ganache Cake (130 pesos/slice). I thought this was their signature flourless cake but still it tastes pretty good as well.

Taste their Chocolate Ganache Cake.

This is how its made XD

I was able to spend a few more minutes taking pictures of the place as well as our leftover plates before going somewhere.

Overall, the food was pretty good though I hope they would get 2-3 high-chairs for toddlers for a better dining experience. I would definitely come back to try their other dishes.

An Organic Breakfast at Sugar Leaf

Healthy is the new Cool! XD

Up to this point, I am still full even hours after I had late breakfast at Sugarleaf. I have been planning to start eating healthy even way back. However, I couldn't do it constantly as my impressions of having organic diet into my system were expensive and tastes bland. However, my perception on organic diet changed after trying some of their food on the menu using my voucher from Cashcash Pinoy. Located at the heart of Wilson Street, Sugarleaf offers healthy alternative to eating as they practice organic.

 Cozy interiors

It took me a while to locate this place as it was partially hidden. When I got in, I was invited to a surrounding that is not stressful and not tiring to the eyes. Instead, I was surrounded with greens. From their products, up to what was written on the board, The surroundings already nourished my eye. The question was will my mind and body be nourished as well?

See my bag? XD

My food took at least 10-12 minutes as the prepare it from scratch. I took out my camera and try to take some snapshots as quietly as I can. The first that came to my table was the free-range chicken wrap (free-range chicken with herbs and dijon mustard) paired with Goody Kefir dressing (composed of dressing, organic lettuce and cucumber). The wrap (150 pesos) was sliced into smaller portions for easier eating. Perhaps, this was one of the best wrap I've ever tasted and I'll tell you, I almost got full after only four small portions. It is a meal itself but much healthier.

Free-range Chicken Wrap

Next served was the Muesli (apple) with Acai (120 pesos) and organic soy milk. Again, its somewhat a cereal but again, much healthier. This small cup of cereal packs with lots of nutrients with acai (as an anti-oxidant) included in the cereal. I might go back there again to buy organic muesli.

Third served was the pumpkin soup (60 pesos). At 60 pesos, this soup was rich, thick, creamy and warm. Paired with their organic bread, it nourishes the body mind and soul. Not to mention its rich in Vitamin A and Lycopine which helps improve and maintain good eyesight XD.

One of the most affordable Pumpkin Soup

For dessert, Cashew San Rival (50 pesos) was served. This Sansrival used suchero (a natural sweetener extracted from organic coconut sap) as its sweetener. For me, it tasted just fine as its sweetness is good especially for diabetics.

To quench my thirst and cleanse my palate, I had Piña Colada Smoothie (100 pesos). With Goody Kefir included, I know that I would be having a healthy, thirst-quenching drink as it has 40 different species of GOOD bacteria.

My total bill was only 480 as I used my 600 voucher for my breakfast (I got 4 energy bars @ 30 pesos each for me to take).

Their interior has an organic hint of green don't you think? XD

My morning was somewhat energized as my mind, body and soul was nourished organically. Defenitely, I'll be going back to buy some organic produce to improve my health.

Lunch at Grilla (in Greenhills)

My Ensogo voucher for Grilla was almost up and I have only few days available to use it. Come Friday, I asked my wife to join me so that my voucher won't go to waste. We took our 3-month old Migmig with us as to complete our family bonding together.

Happy Monkey!?! XD

We took a cab going to Greenhills and got there in less than an hour to have our late lunch there. When we got there, the place was pretty much empty since were having our lunch a bit late. The ambiance is somewhat resembles of a jungle that is cool and refreshing. After placing our orders, we made ourselves comfortable.

Welcome to the Jungle XD.

Grilla serves mostly Filipino food so I don't think my wife would have any problems with what I'll be choosing. Anyway here goes...

Our baby is also hungry as well

First served was the two soups. The Creamy Pumpkin Soup (75 pesos) and the Cream of Spinach Soup (65 pesos). Both of them were creamy and tastes good especially when hot.

While were waiting for the main dish, we had some Rumble in the Jungle 1 (295 pesos). Its an appetizer featuring some of their best. selections. The selection includes, nachos, kwek-kwek (quail eggs dipped in orange batter), baked mussels, button mushrooms and pork barbeque which they all do taste good anyway.

Your favorite street foods all in one plate. XD

Since I love eating sisig, but I don't know which to choose, I got their Sisig Sampler (285 pesos). To be exact, I picked, pork, tuna and squid sisig as they're my top picks. It tastes just right. Not too spicy, not too oily. Just right for my taste. XD

Sisig Sampler

A drinker's dream. XD

For the main dish, we simply ordered Filipino Feast (525 pesos). The Filipino Feast features their all-time Filipino favorites. It's a perfect combination! Kare-kare, garlic chicken and pork adobo, talong ensalada and steamed rice and its also good for 2-3 person. My wife and I hardly finished it but the food tastes pretty much ok.

My wife can finish off the entire table. XD
