A Weekend at Dutdutan 2011

My weekends for August runs every Fridays and Saturday and that was a good time for me to go to events on a Fri-Sat basis. Good thing Dutdutan was held this month of August. I bought my 2-day ticket plus an XXL shirt for myself after being unable to buy last years shirt.

On the first day, I got there early and I got so overwhelmed that the event venue doubled. No, it tripled or probably quadrupled in size that more than 50 tattoo exhibitors take part. I got to take some more decent shots that I did last year and I was able to take more pictures as well. I saw some of my photography friends taking pictures as well. I didn't stay that long as I need to do some errands for my wife XD.

Come second day, I got there much earlier but when I got there, more than a thousand enthusiasts were already inside. I missed one of the tattoo competitions for being late. Plus the front stage was already jam-packed with photographers that I decided to shoot from a distance. Then some of my friends came to join me in taking pictures of people with tattoos. As the night progresses, we still had to wait for the bikini contest only to leave the venue at almost midnight (they said that Bikini Open didn't start at 1:00am).

Anyway, I got a lot of pictures as I got to attend a 2-day event for the first time. Though I was hoping the Bikini Show should have started earlier. Anyway, here are some more pictures for you to enjoy. Till next year. XD.

My Dutdutan Xperience

Last Friday, I had to skip work so that I would be able to attend this event (the other, being my sister's wedding the next day). I made sure I get more than enough sleep to be able to attend to this event. This would be the third time I'll be attending The Dutdutan Tattoo Convention. It was recently held at the World Trace Center which is much fine with me because its proximity to our location. This would also be the first time that I'll be attending on the first day (the previous two being on the second day).

I got there at around 4:00pm and was able to get inside without much hassle. I recall that there were always free beer in every ticket but unfortunately, I didn't get a free drink. Also they ran out of XL shirt that I was hoping to buy one to be add to my Dutdutan Shirt collection. This would also be my first time to use an external flash for this event. I don't know what will be the outcome of the pictures I took or it would be just the same with using pop-up flash.

Slowly, I was able to see the benefits of using an external flash though in my first attempt, the output was almost the same as if I'm using my pop-up flash. Well maybe I need to get used to the settings plus I have to learn more on flash photography. I got to take pictures on some of my favorite subjects (models XD) as well as some tattoos that were on stage. I wasn't able to watch the URCC event (as well as the Bikini Competition the next day) since I have some prior events to attend. Here are some of the Tattoo Shots I made with the help of my newly acquired external flash.

Dutdutan 2009

Pardon for the late posting about what happened last Saturday at Dutdutan 2009. I met Vince first since our meeting time was at 2pm. Then we waited for Alex, his brother and his office mate this time at around 4pm. Since we have to kill some time, Vince and I decided to eat first at Dad's meryenda buffet. for 175php, we were really stuffed because we ate a lot of pasta and some nice pinoy desserts as well. After a while, we were able to meet Alex and company before heading to A Venue.

Once we got there, we met Robin there who is almost on his way home since he still need to get some sleep for his 9pm work. Tickets cost 250php but it has some freebies except for beer (we got that last year though). Good thing the place was not jam-packed yet as we were able to take photos of the tattoos (big tattoo category). Here are some pictures (unedited) that I've taken 

 

  

  

  

After the tattoo show, Dice and K9 together with Hi-C performed on stage. Too bad Robin left a few minutes earlier, tsk tsk tsk... We were able to spot some celebrities like Savannah (have our pictures taken with her) and Janna of Fear Factor Argentina as well as Will Devaughn and KC Montero. And after Hi-C's second performance, its time for the Bikini Contest. 

The place was entirely cramped in front as most people wanted to see the ladies in their bikinis. The trio from Boys Night Out hosted the portion. We were able to take some photos with them though most were a bit blurry. After the bikini show, we went back to relax and listen to the bands play. I recall Kamikaze and The Wuds (Original line-up) played that night. We left early (11:30pm) since we have other commitments the next day.

All in all, the event was fine and I'm looking forward to Dutdutan 2010 (and getting a tattoo perhaps). XD
