My First Social Media Day Experience

Last Saturday, I arrived at Ayala Triangle Garden just in time for the Social Media Day 2012 hosted by Tweetup Manila. This would also be my first time attending this kind of event where I get a chance to meet different people whose common denominator would be the Social Media. 

There were more than a hundred people who showed up and got counted, around 400+ to be exact. Lucky attendees were given freebies courtesy of the event's sponsors. And at the same time, other parts of the country celebrated their Social Media Day like Cebu, Davao, Iligan, Cagayan De Oro down south and Quezon City up north. 

With close to 30 million facebook users and almost the same number of twitter users who regularly go online every single day, no wonder why we are today's number one in terms of photo and video uploads. We Pinoys have the habit of sharing anything that is fun and makes us happy. 

I've roamed around the venue and got to meet familiar faces as well as new ones by the time the event has started. The program was hosted by Tweetup Manila's Tonyo Cruz and Rosario Juan (which I like their T-Shirts). Other speakers include Ms Daphne Osena-Paez, Gang Badoy, Carlo Ople, and Ms World Philippines Queenrich Rehman. 

I wanted to stay longer at the event but I need to be somewhere in Quezon City for another Social Media Day Event. 

It was really a fun and learning experience for me. I hope I could attend next year's Social Media Day.

Having a Momolicious Lunch at Momo

A week ago (August 14), I left home early and packed my lunch so I could have it in the office for dinner XD. But my reason why I left early was to try Momo located at Ayala Triangle Gardens. I recall locating Momo before at Robinson's Place a few years back in Manila but it has been closed and moved to Eastwood city.

Fast forward, I got myself already in front of Momo's Ayala Triangle Garden branch and a bit clueless on what to pick. I only have a 500-peso voucher (from Cashcashpinoy) and I don't want to exceed my spending again. When I got inside, I felt like I was home because of its homey atmosphere. Since there were only a few people having lunch there on a Sunday made it much better for me as I prefer it that way (peaceful and quiet).

While waiting for my lunch, I had a tall glass of Dalandan Frozen Iced Tea (150 pesos). The iced tea was really refreshing and serving was so generous as it is served in a tall glass.

Soup was next as Herbed Cream Pumpkin Soup (150 pesos) was served next. The soup was flavorful though I hardly noticed any bacon bits in it. Nevertheless, the thickness of the soup makes it really good.

I felt home when the Creamy Baked Mac Bolognese (250 pesos) was next served. The spinach cream made the difference as you won't notice any aftertaste of spinach in the macaroni. This is highly recommended for kids who don't eat vegetables as they will like it.

And to cap my meal, I ordered Chocnut Sansrival (195 pesos). This is one of the most expensive slice of cake I've ever tasted. Though it tastes sweet and good, the high price won't cut it for me. =P

My quite long lunch was really satisfying as I'm looking forward to go back again and take my wife and Migmig with me soon.

I Heart Makati Photoshoot

Last week, The Ayala Land recently held a photo contest wherein you should be able to capture Makati though your lens. It was a very rare opportunity for me since Makati is VERY STRICT when it comes to taking pictures of its surroundings. Though I haven't tried to take pictures before in Makati, based on what I've been reading on forums, Makati is NOT FRIENDLY to photographers (especially DSLR users).

I have discovered this event through The Philippine Star last June 6. But registering to this event was a little bit crazy since the site was not yet ready to receive new registrants.I was able to register on June 8 and got my confirmation email that I registered. But I intended to take pictures a week after.

The following week, I was able to take pictures of Makati. I was able to learn the basics of Long Exposure and how it works. Despite lack of proper equipment and knowledge, I made sure that I would be able to get at least a decent shot.  During the contest, I was able to gain new friends that have the passion and zest in the world of photography.

By Saturday (which was the last day of the event), I went back to Makati early to take pictures of Makati during mornings. Pipho.org members were responsible for making this event possible. There were notable key speakers during the event which they share their knowledge and insights. I was also able to take more snaps from the On-The-Spot photo contest but I did not submit any entry as I am not yet confident with my takes.
