Philippine Fashion Week 2011: Grand Allure

It's been a week since I've been to Philippine Fashion Week 2011 (Spring-Summer 2012 Collection) and this was one of the most challenging shoots I've ever been to. Actually, I wasn't invited to this fashion show but my good friend Richard told me I could come but I just have to wait until all of the invited got in already.

After all the guests went in, I was able to get in as well. As usual, it was crowded at the photographer's area.

When the show started, I noticed how far the front stage was from the photographer's area. I started taking pictures but I was too far so I went down and looked for a better spot.

I was able to secure a good spot though there were two people almost completely blocking my view of the runway so I had to take pictures of the models between the two.

After the show, my fingers got a bit numb from pressing my camera's shutter button but I got a lot of decent shots (it could have been much better if it wasn't for the two people blocking the runway). See the culprit? XD

I hope I could take more pictures of these kinds of events to gain more experience and learn more. I promise, I'll do much better. XD

Anyway, here are some more pictures that I took. Sorry for the poor quality as I'm still working hard to improve. XD

Now here's some more... XD

What happened earlier at Pipho's 6th Anniversary Event (Framed Perspective)

I just got back home tonight at around 8:15pm from Pipho's 6th Anniversary Event. Though I felt a little bit disappointed that I didn't win from the raffle earlier XD (I could have won either a 2TB External HD, Spyder 3 Elite, Benro Tripod, Canon Pixma Printer among the prizes given earlier), learning some thing from the Pros were quite enough for me XD.

I got there at around 11:00am at SM City North Edsa Annex but I didn't saw anyone from Pipho from there so I had to wander around until I arrived at SM City Center Event area 3rd floor where I heard some noise. Once I got there, I registered (there was a 300 peso registration fee that comes with a free shirt and some brochures) and saw some of the people I knew from various photo clubs. I checked the photo exhibit that were shot by the org members using Canon Pixma Printers (output is really good) and saw some of my friends' shots from there.

I was able to listen to all of the speakers (From John Chua to Maricris Fabi-Carlos to Jay Jallorina to Wig Tysman to Per Andre Hoffman) who gave their time in sharing their insights to newbies like me XD. Some of the things I've learned includes insights on taking photographs of poverty; building rapport with your subject before taking their photographs; taking photographs of subjects in a very different perspective especially after seeing some photos from all of the speakers (Jaw Dropping! XD).

After the event, I went straight home as I felt drained during the event waiting for my name to be called but it didn't happen. Maybe next year perhaps I could win the grand prize XD.

Happy 6th Anniversary Pipho!!!

The Economics of Coffee

While browsing through my facebook wall, I saw this picture from a friend of mine and I noticed that it shows some details in information about the cost of Starbucks' 2012 planner. The picture below shows how much Starbucks earn per cup and where the cost goes to.

Looking at the economics of coffee

Don't get me wrong here. I've been collecting these planners since 2007 and I don't mind spending a little more just to get a piece of this collectible. And besides, I like writing and updating my planner for events and other things that are important to me.

My mantra is that if you want something and you are willing to spend for it go for it. If you don't have enough money, look for other ways to get it or get something else. That would be 14 more stickers for me. XD

I'll be attending Pipho's 6th Anniversary

And no one's gonna stop me. Bwahahaha XD. This would be my second time to attend this event as photographers from all walks of life will converge tomorrow at SM City North Edsa at around 10:00am. I was able to attend last year though I wasn't able to write about it (I forgot. my bad! XD).

This takes place tomorrow

I'm looking forward to meet old friends as well as new ones as well as learn a thing or two. XD

Remembering the Departed

Current Mood: In deep thoughts.

Its been three years since the last time I visited my brother's (yes, I have twin brothers who were a year younger than me) grave as well as my other relatives back home in Batangas. Time flies so fast that I didn't notice that its the time of the year again to visit our beloved departed. While most people are (or probably) at the cemetery, some of us (including me) are at work as other countries do not celebrate All Saints Day and All Souls day here in the Philippines.

It is one of the few holidays here in the Philippines that most people go home to their respective provinces to be with their relatives (the other being Holy Week and Christmas Season). For me, I haven't visited them in a long time but who knows, I could pay them a visit soon and perhaps stay there longer.
